Holy Cross started the “Go & Make Disciples Ministry” with our March 7, 2020 conference entitled “Discipleship in a Chaotic World”. We were honoured to have as our speaker Sonja Corbitt, the Bible Study Evangelista. Little did we know that weeks later it would be impossible to even gather in groups of more than ten. We had put everything into the hands of God to do with this event whatever He wanted. By the plan of God, Sonja spoke much on the joys and sufferings of life and how we relate those joys and sufferings to our walk with God and becoming a better disciple of Jesus.
We see at the end of the Gospel of Matthew that Jesus commissioned His disciples to “go and make disciples of all nations”. In the glossary of the Catechism of the Catholic Church, the following definition of DISCIPLE is given: Those who accepted Jesus’ message to follow him are called his disciples. Jesus associated his disciples with his own life, revealed the mystery of the Kingdom to the disciples and gave them a share in his mission, his joy, and his sufferings (referencing paragraphs 767 & 787).
We will continue this ministry as God leads so that we may, by the grace of the Sacraments, learn and observe all that Jesus commanded. This ministry is a commitment to grow ourselves into missionary disciples, disciple-makers who further evangelize and lead more to do the same. We look forward to the “Go & Make Disciples Ministry 2021 Conference”. We will do our best to have some of today’s leading Catholic Disciples as speakers. And who knows, Sonja Corbitt could very likely come again. Check this site for updates.
